Sunday was the yearly RA Racer event. The boys and their dads do their best to build the fastest and coolest car together. Jonah won 1st 3 times out of 4 heats! Not bad!

We spent last Saturday at a friend's house who has a professional dirt bike track. Here are just a few pics of the day. We have many more to come....but wanted to start with this. ENJOY!


This is Jonah on the Track.



This is little man. He did not get on the track..it was a little overwhelming for him. So, he stuck to the open field by the track.



Here is mama and little man on the track! Jadon's look of boredom would be from mom's lack of speed. He complained that I didn't go fast enough. But, as you can tell by the lovely smile on my face that we are going a nice speed that brought much joy.(for me anyway) Cut me some slack....the girl in pink got on the track for goodness sake!


And yes...this is the boys crazy daddy. I don't claim him here. I'd rather pretend that he doesn't do things like this. I have to remind him that he is nearly 40 and not a teenager any more. But, if I did claim him in these moments....oh baby! WOW!

Conversation

Last week I received a phone call in the morning after having already dropped the boys off at the school. When I answered the phone I heard Jadon on the other line and he sounded very upset. I was immediately scared thinking something bad had happened or that maybe he was ill. (the stomach bug is running rampant in these parts) Here is how the conversation went.

Me: Hello

Jadon: Mommy.... (sad and upset tone)

Me: Hi darlin....what's a matter?

Jadon: I forgot to brush my teeth this morning.

Me: Oh honey....it's ok. We'll brush them as soon as you get home.

Jadon: No, mommy...you have to come get me and take me home so I can brush my teeth!

Me: Really, baby.....it's ok. You'll be fine till after school.

Jadon: (tone escalating) Mommy I can't be at school with my teeth dirty! Please come get me NOW!!

Me: Well ok....how about I come to the school and bring your tooth brush and you can brush your teeth there?

Jadon: Ok, but hurry.

I think this is the cutest thing. It bothers Jadon if he forgets to brush his teeth. Jonah could go a week and he wouldn't even think about it. I thought it was so funny, because the teacher knows that when Jadon complains about something that it is serious and that she had better act fast or his emotions get out of control. So, she had let him call me from her cell phone in class.

Firepole

This is another video over Christmas at our friends house. They have a fire pole in their house that the boys just LOVE. Jonah has been going down for a couple of years, but this was the first time that Jadon got to do it by himself. It's a long way down and it makes me so nervous to watch him. So, as you watch the video, you will hear my terrified commentary and my disapproval of his fearlessness. He handled it like a pro...but mom.....not so much.

Horses

This video is very late....but I am trying to play catch up. Over Christmas, we went to some friends that have a place off the Brazos River. We were riding 4 wheelers along the river when some horses came right up to us and they were being very noisy. They are beautiful. We tried to put Jadon on one of the horses and he tried to bite us.....so we stuck to just enjoying their beauty.
What an awesome experience!!

The Ridge

Jeff took the boys riding the other day at a place called The Ridge. It is different motor tracks based on age and experience. The boys had a ball. They both did a great job, but Jonah got a little braver than I expected. He was catching some air. Glad I was not there! Here are some of the pics.

Transformed while away!

Jeff decided to surprise me while I was in Texas. We have not liked our kitchen floor since we moved in. It was white with a nasty gray grout. It was ugly. So, Jeff decided to put new tile in while I was gone. Here is a picture of the kitchen before. It's hard to see how ugly the tile is, but just trust me on this one.

Seriously....this is just gross. What era was this floor from? 50's?60's? Well our house was built in the 80's...so I guess that would be my answer. I'm glad I don't remember styles that much from the 80's.

YEA! The final result! MUCH Better. We picked out a tan with brown tile and we picked out the larger sized tiles. I think 17x17's.

Hardest Blog ever

Well, I don't want to do this...but I must.
I have been really procrastinating updating this family blog because I know that when I send out pics and updates of the boys that dad won't be on the other end waiting to receive them.

I've not had a whole lot of time to absorb what I have been through. Immediately after coming back to Texas from the funeral, mom and I were swimming in legal stuff and getting dad's estate settled before I returned home. No one should have to do this after losing a loved one.

The minute that I got home, I was immediately thrown into my new ministry that was set to kick off Feb 21st and I had to write the bible study as well as all the other details of it all. So, now I have a little down time and hopefully time to absorb what has just happened to our family.

Although, I am not sure I really want to. The minute I begin to think on it the pain begins to spill in and I find myself pushing the thoughts out so the pain will go away. It still doesn't seem real. I just keep waiting for dad to show back up so we can pick up where we left off. Every turn I make, evey step I take....I see him in my mind. Almost everything I touch or do seems to bring up a memory of him. He's everywhere yet not here -all at the same time. I miss him so.

I thought that I would post these pics first before I send any out of our daily family stuff.These pics are from the day after the funeral. I wanted to go back out to the burial site and pick up some of the beautiful flowers that were given to us. We brought a lot of them back so we could enjoy them while they were still fresh.

Big Surprise!

When we got home from Texas late Wednesday night we found these in the garage! Some of our sweet friends suprised us by getting the boys dirt bikes for Christmas. A dream come true for the boys!

Christmas

We spent Christmas away from home again this year. We first made a trip to Arkansas to visit my papaw and uncle and then we headed for Texas where we spent time with my parents and Jeff's parents . Here are some pics of our trip.

This is what they got and we could have saved a whole lot of money on the other items because these Dallas Cowboy jerseys were next to gold as far as the boys were concerened. They didn't take them off for a whole week.
